Accessibility statement

Why this page exists

We sell accessibility. If our own website were not accessible, there would be no conversation to have. So here we set out what we have verified, by what method, and what we know is still not right.

This statement follows the model used for public-sector accessibility statements even though we are not required to use it, because it is the format that lets you check what we say.

Conformance status

This site is partially conformant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. "Partially" because of the exceptions listed below, not because parts of it are unreviewed.

We do not simply say "conformant" because we have not yet been through an external audit. A screen reader user has already been through the site without trouble, but that is a first sign, not an audit.

What we have checked, and how

Verification is our own, with tools that are part of the project and run on every change. If something stops conforming, the site does not get published.

• Colour contrast: 27 combinations measured one by one against the WCAG 2.2 thresholds. All pass AA. Three combinations are documented as discarded for not reaching 4.5:1.
• Structure: exactly one main heading per page and no skipped heading levels, checked across all 18 pages.
• Images: all carry alternative text. Decorative ones carry it empty on purpose.
• Video: every video has a text description below it of what is seen and what is said, at least 180 characters long. It is a project rule and the tooling itself enforces it.
• Keyboard: the whole site can be reached and used without a mouse, with focus always visible through a two-tone ring that works on light and dark backgrounds.
• Forms: a visible, associated label on every field, errors with icon and text — never colour alone — and an error summary that takes focus and links to each field.
• Motion: every animation respects the system preference for reduced motion, and can also be paused from the settings panel.
• Links: those that open a new tab announce it to screen readers.
• Language: each page declares its own, and the language switcher marks each option with its language so that it is pronounced correctly.

Non-accessible content

This is what we know does not conform, or only partly does:

• The pitch video carries subtitles burned into the picture, in Spanish. There is no selectable subtitle track and no English version, so anyone viewing the site in English will see Spanish subtitles. The text description, which is translated, partly compensates. We are going to add a subtitle track in both languages.
• The founder photographs come from a PDF and are 200 by 200 pixels. They look soft above that size. They are pending replacement with high-resolution versions.
• The logos of the institutions that support us are files they provided and we have not audited their internals. They are shown with alternative text of our own.

The settings panel

At the bottom right of any page there is an accessibility settings button. It is the second stop of the Tab key across the whole site, after the skip-to-content link, so that it can be found without looking for it.

It lets you change the text size, turn on high contrast, highlight links, increase spacing, pause animations and hide images. The preference is saved on your device.

It includes no "screen reader" and no layer that overlays the site. Those add-ons interfere with real screen readers, which is the opposite of what we want. This site is built to work with the reader you already use.

Preparation of this statement

Statement prepared on 9 September 2026 by self-assessment carried out by the team itself, using the verification tools that ship with the site’s code.

In addition, a screen reader user has been through the site and was able to use it without trouble. A broader test, with more people and more assistive technologies, is still pending.

We will review it whenever something relevant changes and, in any case, when we go through our first external audit.
